Castle Hotel Sasvár

3240 Parádsasvár, Kossuth utca 1

Introducing...

...the country: "...reduced in numbers, but not broken..." - 1,100 years in Europe.

...the region: plain, water and mountains are present in the magnificent form of the Alföld (the Great Plain), Lake Tisza and the Mátra.

...the mountains: the Mátra, which have a gateway, their highest peak is ... and they also have a heart – Parádsasvár, lying in the protective embrace of the 1,000 metre mountains.

...the village: the small mountain village of 600 people is hidden in the region of sources of the Tarna stream on the northern side of the Mátra 100 km from Budapest next to road 24. Its history has been written by famous names such as the Rákóczi, Grassalkovich, Orczy and Károlyi families. It is famous for its glass works, established by the Orczy family in 1767 which still operates today, and the Csevice spring with its medicinal water.

...the castle: the castle stands in the "gateway" to the village, in the middle of two and a half hectares of parkland, surrounded by firs and rare trees. The neoclassical group of buildings, built in 1827, consists of three parts connected by cloisters. In 1882 the Károlyi family commissioned Miklós Ybl to convert and extend it in the neo-Renaissance style.

...the philosophy: in an area which has been owned by people whose names are the hallmarks of the 1,100 year history of the country, in a castle built by an ancient Hungarian family, whose roots can be traced back to the Kaplony clan at the time of the Conquest of Hungary, we wish to offer high quality, modern services in an elegant style at moderate prices. Where once resided kings, today the guest is king!

...the ambience: we would like to convey the calm of the peaceful years at the turn of the last century to our guests who wish to go on a journey in time not for service but for an experience. With this in mind the appearance of the period is evoked and discretely blended with today’s technology.

...the hotel: in the five star hotel which opened at the end of December 1998 five suites, 52 double rooms (some with a spare bed available) are designed to satisfy different expectations, the ordinary and the extraordinary, through colour harmony and furnishings bearing the need for special features in mind. Domestic and foreign guests, travelling individually or in a group, on business or for pleasure, lovers of sport and nature, and those seeking regeneration and recovery will all find we offer just what they wish for.

...what we offer: our guiding principle is that there should be “as many services as there are rooms”!

- hotel: exchange, credit cards accepted, air-ticket administration, luggage service, reception safe, room service, baby-sitting, animators, lifts, smoking and no smoking rooms, rooms where pets are allowed and where they are not, bathrooms (some with bidets); telephone, television, room safe, and mini bar in the rooms, and the fully air-conditioned suites have Jacuzzis and saunas.
